My Super Ex-Girlfriend
Hancock
The Watchmen
The Incredibles
Heroes (TV series)
Beginning with the comic book boom (1938) and lasting through WWII- superheroes have served as a comfort to society and images of perfection. Through time, however, these heroes have grown into a new breed. Rather than being superhuman, they are now super and human. These "heroes" make mistakes, struggle between good and evil, and have common human flaws. My question is why does our society want to see such flawed characters as heroes?
I love the different portrayals of superheros. It's so interesting to see their changes. From old X-Men to Incredibles, it's been quite a ride for superhero fans of all sorts. I can't wait to see what the future holds!
